Advanced technologies are more pervasive today than they have ever been, and their uses are expanding continually. ICT is significantly enhancing and altering human activity, and enabling us to live, work and think in ways that most of us never thought possible. This increasing use of technology in all aspects of society makes confident, creative and productive use of ICT an essential skill for life, which is why Uppingham makes sure that it is taught as a discrete subject in the Fourth Form (first year) and Lower Fifth as well as integrating its use in all subjects at all levels.
Pupils learn to use ICT to aid administration, simplify repetitive tasks and organise their work for other subjects, as well as being taught how to use ICT to produce effective solutions to real-world problems, developing skills in analysis, logical thinking and creativity. They are also given the chance to explore their ingenuity with the production of the sorts of digital media that are now widely used in marketing and seminars.
