Gender Pay Gap Reporting

Uppingham School is an employer required by law to carry out Gender Pay Gap reporting under the Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017.

Gender Pay Gap reporting requires the School to make calculations based on employee gender, using our existing HR and payroll records.  This involves up to six calculations that show the difference between the average earnings of men and women working at the School.  It does not involve publishing individual employee data.

We are required to publish the results on our own website and on a government website.

We can use the results to assess:

  • The levels of gender equality in our workplace
  • The balance of male and female employees at different levels
  • How effectively talent is being maximised and rewarded

The challenge both nationally and in our organisation is to eliminate any gender pay gap.

This is not the same thing as equal pay for equal work.  Uppingham School believes in being an inclusive and diverse organisation in which anyone can reach their full potential.  We are confident that men and women are paid equally for the same work across the School.
