West Deyne is a House of 50 boys aged from 13 to 18. As a centrally located ‘Town House’ it is a short walk from Chapel and all other areas of the School. The House has an enclosed court for ball games and a large garden, as well as an attractive open central quad, around which the House is built. Every boy has his own study or bedsit to work in. The Fourth Form sleep in two small dorms and the Lower Fifth in one long dormitory; the Upper Fifth and Sixth Form in single bedsits.
Toby Makhzangi became Housemaster of West Deyne in 2016. Toby was educated at Reed’s School in Surrey, and studied History and Politics at Royal Holloway, University of London. He spent a year after school farming and teaching in Kenya (where he lived as child) before studying for his PGCE in History at the University of Cambridge. He obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Leicester in International Relations and World Order.
He started his teaching career at Uppingham as a History teacher in 1999, commencing Politics teaching in 2000. Since 2007 he has been Head of Politics, was i/c of Rugby from 2003-2008 and i/c of Cricket 2013-2016.
