Uppinghamian secures TV role

Gabriella is 'Poppy Rogers'

Uppinghamian, Gabriella Darlington, has won the final of Channel Five's 'Be A Star On Neighbours' competition.

The process started when Gabriella sent in an audition tape to the Channel Five offices earlier this year.  She then got through the initial stages of the competition and was selected as the one of the 'final five'; this number was further reduced by popular vote to two on 28th June.

From there the two finalists were flown out to Australia, where they have just spent a week in 'boot camp' in Melbourne.  The two girls were put through their paces with further auditions and drama coaching.  The finalist was announced on 16th July.

Filming gets underway on Monday 19th July, and Gabriella will play the part of Poppy Rogers.  Poppy is an English traveller who will stay with Karl and Susan Kennedy for four weeks. The first episode with Gabriella starring in it will be shown on November 10.

Gabriella can't believe how lucky she is to have secured the role.

"I never expected to be shortlisted, let alone get to Australia and win. I have had an amazing week and am really excited to start on Monday."

Having just completed her A-levels in Geography, English and Religious Studies, Gabriella plans to return to England at the end of the summer to study geography at Bristol University.
