The principal aims of the Friends of Uppingham are to enable ex-parents to keep in touch with the School, with one another, to promote the interests of the School, as well as supporting current Uppinghamians.
Parents are invited to join at the time their children leave Uppingham, and membership take-up is well over 90%. Friends receive the School Newsletter and a letter from the Chairman, twice yearly. They are also invited to occasional functions such as The Advent Carol Service and Friends Reception which takes place beforehand.
We are not a fund-raising group and any funds left over from mailing costs benefit projects not covered by the usual School budget. This support is offered in the form of equipment or projects which benefit the entire community, as suggested by the School Council, such as a large side screen television purchased for the School Buttery.
The Chairman of Friends of Uppingham is Richard Boston (B56), Master and ex-Housemaster of Brooklands. He and the Hon Secretary, Jo Franklin, are always interested to hear from Friends, and from those who might be interested in joining.
