New House (13+ girls)
New House opened in 2004, the second girls’ house to be built following the school’s decision to embrace coeducation. It is conveniently located on North Street West, just two minutes’ walk from the main school quad and the town centre. New House was recently refurbished by Oliver Heath Design who use their Biophilic Design expertise to inspire the designs. With accommodation spread over three floors, the modern house has a light and airy feel, with large common rooms, open workspaces and well-equipped kitchenettes.
As one of the ‘country houses’, New House is set in spacious grounds and has a large private garden.
New House is home to 60 girls aged 13-18. The bedrooms are spread over the first and second floors. In their first year, the girls share four-bed dormitories, before moving into double bedsits for the two years up to GCSE. In the Sixth Form, each girl has her own bedsit with en-suite bathroom.

 Christina joined Uppingham in September 2017, and was previously a deputy housemistress at Ratcliffe College. She studied Geography and Sports Science at Loughborough University, before completing a PGCE in Physical Education and an MSc in Education. Her specialist teaching subjects are Geography and PE.Christina was educated at Rydal Penrhos School in North Wales and was an excellent hockey and netball player. Christina now coaches hockey and netball and is also an officer in the CCF army section. Christina values the many opportunities life at Uppingham School offers, and seeks to role model the importance of challenging oneself in many different areas. She is married to Nigel, who will continue to support her in New House alongside his role as Housemaster of Uppingham's Day House. |
