Uppingham’s full boarding environment offers children of families serving in the British Armed Forces a safe, stable, and nurturing setting in which to complete their senior school education.

More than 80% of our pupils are full boarders, meaning the School remains vibrant throughout term time - there is always support, always activity, and always a sense of community.

We are pleased to welcome families who wish to use the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA). Uppingham has extensive experience supporting pupils whose families are often based far from home, including those serving in His Majesty’s Armed Forces. Our fourteen boarding houses provide warm and welcoming home‑from‑home environments, each with their own pastoral structure designed to support young people, nurture friendships, and help them thrive academically and socially.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) is determined by the Ministry of Defence and set out in JSP 752: Tri‑Service Regulations for Expenses and Allowances.

Families in receipt of CEA pay the allowance (at the current rate) plus 10% of the Full Boarding Fee.

If you are considering using CEA for your child to attend Uppingham, we encourage you to contact our Admissions Department, who can guide you through the process. Families will also need to complete the School’s online registration as part of the normal admissions procedure.
