Operation Encompass

At Uppingham School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are fully committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and protection of all our pupils. Creating a secure and supportive environment enables our young people to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We have a robust safeguarding culture, supported by trained staff, clear policies, and effective procedures. All concerns are taken seriously, and appropriate action is taken in line with statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and Working together to Safeguard Children.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding, Uppingham School participates in Operation Encompass. This is a national initiative that ensures schools are informed promptly when police have attended a domestic abuse incident involving a child. This allows us to provide immediate and tailored support to affected pupil, helping to safeguard their welfare and learning.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and respected.

If you have any safeguarding concerns, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Carmela Senogles, 01572 820608 or [email protected]
