In September 2025, we will welcome our first cohort of pupils into our Lower School.

The Lower School includes Year 7 (11+ entry) and Year 8 (12+ entry), and pupils are welcome to join the school in either year group. Mid-year entry into the school is also possible for these year groups.

Visiting the School

To begin your child's journey, we encourage you to contact Sarah Heading, our Prospective Parent Liaison Coordinator, who will be able to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

Uppingham is best experienced in person, and families who are interested in our Lower School are warmly invited to come and visit the School. You can visit us either for an individually arranged visit, or for a Lower School Information Morning.

Your visit will include a tour of the school as well as an opportunity to meet current pupils. Our admissions team will be happy to answer any questions you may have on your visit.

Registration

If you would like to commence the admissions process for your child, we encourage you to formally register with the school as soon as possible. You can fill in our registration form and pay the registration fee of £250 (including VAT) online. Registration should be supported by a copy of the child’s birth certificate.

Test and Interview

Uppingham is a selective school, and prospective pupils therefore complete a number of pre-tests before being offered a place at Uppingham.

For entry into Year 7 or 8, the assessment consists of an online computerised test in verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, Maths and English, plus a written Maths assessment and a Creative Writing assessment. This process typically takes place in the Spring Term prior to entry in the following September.
