Congratulations to Adeore (Upper Sixth), who has been offered a place on the three-year BA Acting course at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

As a Drama Scholar, Adeore has featured in numerous productions at Uppingham, most recently including ‘Working: A Musical’ and ‘Beautiful Burnout’. He has been commended by the Drama Department and by Uppingham Theatre audiences.

Mountview is one of the UK’s leading drama schools, overseen by its President, Dame Judi Dench and Principal and Artistic Director, Stephen Jameson. It offers vocational actor training that prepares its students for a career in theatre, television, film and the recorded arts.

Students are coached by industry professionals, alongside guest lectures from a variety of well-known actors, most recently including Lin Manuel Miranda.

The BA (Hons) Performance (Acting) and Diploma in Professional Acting course offered by Mountview is one of the most competitive in the country, with many applicants only being accepted following a foundation year. Adeore has been offered a place on the course this September - a tremendous achievement that recognises his exceptional talent.

Acceptance on the course follows a lengthy application process. The first stage requires two self-filmed monologues, with a shortlist of candidates then invited to a half-day workshop at Mountview. The workshop included improvisation and movement, which was then followed by an audition in front of a small panel. The final stage involved a whole day event, comprising of four workshops that included storytelling, text, improvisation, and movement.

Speaking about his offer, Adeore said: “I hope to go into professional acting, and I wanted to go to Mountview because of the number of professional actors they have come in to give lectures, alongside Dame Judi Dench who works closely with the school – I feel that this sets Mountview apart from a lot of other Drama Schools. It was a lengthy application process, but everybody in the Drama Department helped me and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.

“I would like to say a big thank you to the Drama Department for their support throughout my time at Uppingham, with special thanks to Miss Delaney, Mr Toland, Mr Holroyd, and Mrs Hayes, who guided me through the application and audition process.”

Mrs Clare Hayes, Artistic Director (Theatre) at Uppingham School, said: “We are incredibly proud of Adeore.  Since Fourth Form, he has shown a considerable talent for performing and it has been incredibly fulfilling to watch and develop his acting skills.

“Mountview is a world-leading Drama School that attracts applicants from 88 countries from across the world, and it is especially impressive to gain a place on the three-year course, as only 1% do. Adeore is an accomplished actor, and we have no doubt that he will thrive at Mountview. We look forward to supporting his vocation as a professional actor.”
